What is the best way to effortlessly memorize sheet music?

What is the best method? I find I am far too lazy to sit there and try to memorize any tricks, tips?

I suppose memorize a few measures at a time. I don't know if you can memorize anything 'effortlessly..'

If you can sing it you can play it. Ever heard that one before? It works. Learn to sing it first and the rest will be much, much easier. After you can sing it, then learn it in phrases. Get the music stuck in your head and challenge yourself to try and figure it out without looking at the notes. An hour of memorizing by singing would be far more productive than looking at it bar by bar. It would also help to know what kind of sheet music or what instrument. Good luck.
