What is the best way to erase a mini dv tape?

I have a Sony drc trv19 camcorder.

To re record onto the tape you don't need to erase it, just record over it.

Just Record Over The Tape.  HOWEVER, If You Need A Totally Clean Tape For A Video Editing Program. Just Rewind The Tape To The Beginning, Put On The Lens Cap Or Cover The Lens Completely And Hit Record. When The Tape Is Done It Will Be Blank AND Have A 'Continuous' Time Code Which Is Necessary For Video Editing Programs.
