What is the best way to exhange large amounts of money if I am moving abroad?

I am moving from Australia to Sweden and would like some opinions on the best way to exchange or wire money overseas.

  1. Check with your bank I think you can take $10000 with you overseas.Do you have family that you can send smaller amounts to over a period of time.Alternatively purchase Swedish Real Estate if moving there permanently.


  2. Talk with your bank. They will transfer your money from your australian bank to a swedish bank account. If you don't have a bank account in sweden yet. then only take what you need with you until you arrive and open an account in Sweden then you can phone a number that your bank will give you and give them a pass word and your bank details and they will transfer your money over.

  3. Banks such as ANZ & Commonwealth..now have Travel Cards.  You can transfer money into them at any time. You could get multiple cards. The exchange rate is determined at time of 'loading ' cards with more money.  Another option.. get yourself a debit credit card..and simply withdraw your money once in Sweden.
