Question:

What is the best way to extend my wireless internet signal in my house?

I heard I could buy a internet bouncer. The problem is my router is in my downstairs, and I need a stronger signal two floors up. I cannot move the router because I do not wish to cut a hole on the floor or buy a longer Ethernet cable.

  1. Try to upgrade to N if you can afford it.

If you want to give it a shot:

^You can flash your router and change the MW output.  Higher MW = better connection but also more heat will be produced.  Not the absolute best solution but it works.

  2. If it has little antena coming up through the back, you can make a homemade dish with a foam plate and some tn foil

    Works

  3. The one, the only, the Windsurfer...

Saw this showcased by Patrick Norton on DL.TV.

Keep in mind the signal behind the reflector will be decreased, which can actually be a good thing if you don't want your neighbors piggybacking off your connection.

  4. You could try using a stronger antenna.

Also, try placing a second wireless router between the existing router and the PC u r using. Link them wirelessly.

  5. If you are going to buy something it is time to buy wireless N router and receivers. Much better then B or G.

You can buy a repeater/ booster but why bother.

Try this the antenna on your router broadcasts through the length not from the top try turnig the antenna so that the side point towards your other computer upstairs.
