Question:

What is the best way to find a leak in an above ground pool?

I have an 18 foot round above ground pool. It will lose aprox. 3 inches of water a day. It drops to just about the return ‘eye’ ball then stops. I would have thought it would be somewhat easy to find once it reaches it lowest level, but I can not find a hole or rip or split in the seam at all.

Also, it does not seem to be coming from either the strainer port or the return.

Any suggestions?

  1. The only thing I can think of is to fill it up above where you know the leak is and then put a handful of leaves or other light things into the water and watch where they go.  I would think they would drift toward the leak.

  2. Evaporation?
