What is the best way to fish for trout?

i'mgoing up to the manistee river this weekend and plan to do some fishing. what is the best way to fish for trout? What will catch the most fish? I don't have a fly rod, but can i tie a fly to my line and just toss it out and let the fly float? What kind of powerbait (if any) is best for trout? What live bait is best? How should i rig my line so it doesn't get snagged on the bottom of the flowing river? Any other tips?

what you should do is rig up with a clear bobber, bobber stopper, and a night crawler. this way u can keep you bait off the bottom and give it a natural presentation. if the night crawler doesnt work you can use pink power bait. try to look for deep pools of water or fish the end of rapids where they meet deeper water. good luck fishin : )

if you have a spinning rod for larger fish early morning late evening use small  floating   rapala`s for smaller fish  late morning /early evening use mepps spinners or blue fox spinners. after dark/mid day go with the live bait on bottom with sinker still fishing.

no you can not tie a fly to monifilament line . flies are to light and you would only be able to cast them a couple feet ,,that is why flyfisherman use the special lines that they do , the weight of the fly line is what gets the fly out to where the fish are.

Yes you can tie a fly to your line let it float so far and then slowly retrieve it back to you.

Best Live Bait:

Worm

Take your line and about 8" -10 " above the hook put a couple of split shots on your line cast out let it sink almost to the bottom then retrieve your worm slowly pausing every 5 to 6 feet this drives trout wild.

well there are a lot of ways to catch trout and i will tell you some. spinners, live bait, lemon,orge twist powerbait lime works so so and rainbow i have caught about 3 fish with that this season. and worms and minnows work to>> hope i helped you out and good luck fishing.
