What is the best way to gain stamina?

hi im 12 and i like running . however i have a problem,i cant run very far . please could i have some advice on how to gain stamina.

  1. When you practice add a little distance every time and even if you feel like quitting, push it until your done. Eventually you will do it with ease.


  2. Every time you run, run a little bit farther. Pretty soon you'll be running farther than you thought you could. Just work up to it. Push yourself and you WILL gain stamina.

  3. A good way of building up your stamina is to find a hill to run up.  It need not be a very big hill as long as it's fairly steep. Try and run up it as fast as you can and then either jog or walk down it.  Build up the amount of times you do this and eventually you'll find that running on a flat surface becomes a lot easier and you can go further.

  4. Don't give up, sometimes even experienced runners get in slumps.  Often what pros will do to gain stamina is to increase mileage slowly.  Make sure you take it easy though.  One popular technique is to run 4-5 min then walk 1 min.  You can vary this, but the point is to keep your heart rate elevated, but not too high.  This will increase your VO2 max which is the best measure of stamina.  Good luck.
