  1. The best way is to submit your resume to as many salons as you can, be very confident and well presented, don't post them hand them in by hand and introduce yourself. I own a salon and the ones that stand out to me are the ones that personally come into the salon (i just throw out the posted ones because they made no effort) If you can do some work experience in the salon you can add this to your resume and it looks better. Also you could do tea and tidy work at least this gets you in the door and next time the salon is looking for an apprentice they most likely will hire you.

  2. Sidney is the place to go. There are more salons in Sidney than churches.

Make sure you learn the technique for cutting hair around the neck called the Down Under.

Whatever you do, stay out of the Bush Country.

  3. As a salon owner, we are always more likely to hire someone who has started off as a part time shampoo girl. Try and get your foot in the door that way. Once you have your foot in the door, constantly challenge yourself. Talk to the clients, constantly ask the  other staff about their jobs, why do they use certain products on different types of hair ect.  A salon is a fashion industry so make sure you dress with the latest fashions and the biggy is that your hair looks great. Clients always take notice. Remember that when you start off you are not going to be doing all of the good stuff straight away. Your job will be maintaining the salon to begin with. Everyone has to start somewhere and because you aren't servicing clients to begin with you will have more time to do this. Good luck you will be great

  4. Why don't you go to your favourite hair salon and ask them.

If possible get your mum to do the same.

Walk around a big shopping centre, on a quiet day, and pop in and ask the receptionist...after a day I am sure you will have loads of information.

Hair dressers are always chatty & have an opinion on this matter.

It is important to properly research something like this.

    GOOD LUCK!!!
