What is the best way to get an internet connection for my laptop?

I have a laptop but little to no internet connection. I have no wireless router or anything like that. The only internet we have in our house is on my cousin's desktop which is 2 floors above mine, and that connection is from her provider (Verizon I think). When in my room in the basement I get absolutely no connection. When on the first floor I get a little connection from linksys but most of the time I can't even get that. What should I do?

P.S. I'm not looking to spend a lot of money.

even though u dont wanna spend much money, i think the best think to do is to by linksys or d-link or something. if you can access any wifi it usually works for a few minutes then your internet goes down

well, i think it is better to buy a router. from there you could get a better connection from the desktop. linksys is the best brand

Try cell phone modem.

Why don't you purchase an Air Card....Verizon has one that you will like. that way you can go anywhere with your laptop..
