My Friend and I will be in Madrid, Spain in March for Four days. What is the best and Cheapest way to get around? Train, bus, taxi? Is it better to buy a weekly pass and if so how much will it cost? Are the trains comfortable?

  1. Take taxis. You are only there for a short time.

Locals use the metro (subway) but they have seen the city.

  2. Well I live in Southern Spain, Benalmadena.

For me I would definately suggest trains. They are cheap clean and reliable!

Taxis here are reasonable but can sometimes be expensive, such as when leavin one area into another the prices increases as each town has it's own taxi service not private companies!

I use buses quite regularly as well but I would definately reccommend the train as a better option because they are fast and don't have as many stops! Yes they are comfortable too!

I think using a mixture of transport is the best idea, if you are looking at a specific destination use a taxi, a different area use a train or bus!

    Good luck and have fun!

  3. If you stay in Madrid City - Underground is the best means of transport and easy to figure out.  There is a Touristic Pass for 1, 2 , 3 ,5 and 7 day pass - unlimited use both on underground and buses. Assuming you will travel around Zone A  - 1 day pass 3.80€, 2 day 6.80€, 3 day 9€, 5 day 14,20€, 7 day 19.80€.

Trains and Underground are certainly comfortable.

Have a look at attached website..you can view/choose in english and I believe you can even buy online travel card...plus other interesting info

Have a great trip over and a great time...cheers.

  4. use the underground is the cheapest way and you should buy 10 pass which means you can travel ten times within seven or ten days ( I forget but it's good for you to use for four days).  Also it's more flexible then 1 or 2 days pass as you will not travel many times a day as you will visit only few places per day.  It cost about EUR6.40/10 passes.  There are pick pockets like all undergrounds in big cities.
