  1. usually when in the virgin islands, you rent a car such as a jeep. you will NEVER see any cars like convertables because th roads are very narrow and rocky. you could go by cab, but to get a very short distance its like 50 bucks. i always get jeeps, and thats the best way to go. st thomas is not a very nice place to visit in USVI, st john is the way to go for st thomas has crime, and sooo soooo sooooo much poverty. enjoy any place in USVI though, because it is amazing!

  2. You can rent a car and explore by yourself or you can be like all the other tourist take safari (a flat bed truck that has seat built-in) and there only $5.00 dollars a ride and About $7.00 at night (cause of murder that had happen in st.croix a 10 years ago so they charge more after 7:00PM) . Either is good just depend on how much money you want to spend.

Also St.Thomas have a low murder rate.

Hope you have a good time

  3. The best way to get around St Thomas is to rent a car. Cabs are expensive and can eat into your budget.

The best advice I can give you, drive cautiously and defensively. Don't let anyone intimidate you. Stay far to the left and always approach corners as though there might possible be someone stopped in the street around the bend.

If you are on St Thomas for a few days, you might want to take cabs. Here is a link to prices.

Have a great trip and enjoy St Thomas)

  4. Rent a car.  If you plan to travel around a lot the taxis can get pretty expensive.  I'd really recommend renting scooters.  You can use them to zip right through traffic.  When the cruise ships are visiting traffic can be insane.
