  1. Ice, ice Baby.   Really, put some ice on the wax, let it freeze, then scrape it off with a dull table knife.  This could be a long process, as you may have to keep going back and letting the wax freeze it.  I hope this helps.  Good luck.

  2. Things You’ll Need:

    Newspaper

    Paper towel

    Warm iron

    Old towel

    Step1

First it is important not to panic; you can allow the wax to dry on the carpet. It is normal to want to address the spilled wax immediately. This method will work whether the wax spill is fresh or you have allowed the wax to dry. So finish enjoying your event or meal.

    Step2

Determine the size of the spill and get a piece of newspaper or any other thin sheet of paper big enough to more then cover the spill. You may want extra paper for soaking up the wax.

    Step3

Get out your regular iron and heat it up to a medium heat setting. You want the iron hot but not steaming. You will need a cloth rag in a light or neutral color to place between the paper covering the wax and the iron to prevent getting wax residue on your iron.

    Step4

With your paper over the spill and your cloth over the paper place the hot iron over both and allow the heat to pull the wax up into the paper. You may have to lift and check and move the paper around to soak up all of the wax. After you have soaked up all of the wax, use a soft fabric brush to brush up the nap of the carpet. You may have to repeat this process several times to get up all of the wax.

Newspaper is best for soaking up the wax due to its porous quality, it works just fine on most dark and patterned carpets. If your carpet or fabric is light in color you will want a paper with no printing on it as the wax may cause the print to transfer some of its color. Paper towels are a good second choice.

  3. Place a bag of ice on it, let it sit for a minute to freeze the wax, then chip the wax off.

Don't get an iron near your carpet.  Nylon carpet fiber has a very low melting point.

Should this not be effective, spilling wax on a carpet is is an accidental injury to your home, and is thus covered by homeowner's insurance. (What is your deductible?)  If this is an insurance issue, the company is responsible for "line of sight," which means for example, if the injury is in a living room, they would replace the living room, dining room, and hall.  (all areas not separated by a door)

  4. Place a cloth or paper towel over the spill and then run a moderately warm iron over it; the wax will transfer to the towel.
