  1. I agree with most of the previous answer. Obviously you'll need the Picadilly line east into the city but I think getting off at Russell Square Tube Station is a closer walk to the museum than from Holborn. Turn left out of the Russell Square Tube station and through the square. You will see signs and there will be a station manager to ask for directions from if you miss the signs. Only a 5-10 minute walk from the station to the museum. The whole trip will likely take about an hour.

  2. Catch the airport express train from the airport to Paddington Station it runs frequently will take 20 minutes and cost UK$16, at Paddington Stn. buy a day ticket (UK$6) for the tube and head for Tottenham Court Road Station. You will have to change tubes once, hence the day ticket its cheaper, but this is easy and quick and should take about 10-15 minutes to get to your destination from Paddington Stn. This is the easiest and quickest, buses are cheaper. Check out  tfl.gov.uk  the Transport for London website for more information.

  3. Tube via the piccadilly line.  Its about an hour or so.  You take the piccadilly line all the way to Holborn station, and follow the signs to the British Museum.
