Question:

What is the best way to get from JFK to the Metro North railroad (West Hudson - Port Jervis line)? to hoboken?

NYC novice! However I get there, I need to get on the Port Jervis line since my stop is in Harriman. I think i need to get on in Hoboken, but don't know how to get to Hoboken from JFK.

  1. It will not be easy, but you can:

    Take the AirTrain at JFK to the Subway.  Take the A or E line towards Manhattan to Penn Station.  There you can get a train to Harriman.  Your will have to transfer at the Secaucus Station (no need to go to Hoboken, Secaucus is one stop closer and more of a transfer spot)

    If you want to save 40 minutes or so (depending on the time you travel and the frequency of the trains), instead of the subway from the airtrain, you can catch the LIRR to penn station.

    But the keys are Airtrain to (LIRR or Subway) to Penn Station to Seacaucus to Harriman.

    BEST BEST BEST case is 2 hours.  But expect a lot longer


  2. take the airtake to jamaica statio, then take the LIRR to penn station, then the PATH or NJ transit to Hoboken or Secacus and transfer to the Port Jervis line..
