  1. Advertise, Advertise, Advertise.

Try creating a  brochure with your website on it and some information about your website and hand them out. Try some business cards with the web address on them and hand them out. An ad in the paper with your web address might be less work and effective. Try a flyer with the website and put them up on community boards in places like laundry mats and coffee shops.

  2. Write articles about your website or ideas.

Submit your website for users to review, free!

    Go to Famous Pages

    http://famouspages.info

  3. The most cost effective way to drive traffic to your website is to become an expert in your industry.  If you have a website that sells "Pool  Tables"  you want to everyone to know that the owner of XYZPoolTables.com knows everything there is to know about pool tables...it will build trust & help you sell more pool tables.

As XYZPoolTables.com internet marker I would tell them to create the following ALL about pool tables.

    1.  videos

    2.  articles

    3.  power point presentations

    4.  audio

    5.  press releases

    6.  ebooks

    7.  brochures

    8.  magazines

    9.  newsletters

    10. Any other sort of content medium

Then you want tell them to find EVERY website that relates to pool tables.

    1.  Blogs

    2.  Forums

    3.  News Sites

    4.  Pool Tables Stores (yes, competition)

    5.  Directories & Review Sites

    6.  SOCIAL NETWORKS / ONLINE COMMUNITIES

    7. Q&A sites (like Yahoo Answers)

    8. ANY site that relates to pool tables.

Then, I would tell them to connect the dots.  Create a creative internet marketing plan that will convince the related websites to link back to you.

Blogs:  E-mail asking to write a review about your company.

Forums:  Start answering peoples questions on buying a pool table, or playing pool, or about rules, or anything to create brand awareness

    Competitors:  Exchange links

Directory & Review Sites:  List your website in as many directories as possible.  You can start with the big boys, YellowPages.com, YellowBook.com, CitySearch.com, Yahoo Directory, and work your way down to 'pool table directories.'  You would be surprised what you can find.

ONLINE COMMUNITIES:  Use the power of social marketing.   If you sell pool tables you should have 50 videos on YouTube.com showing people how play pool, put together a pool table, pool tournaments, trick shots, etc... You should have accounts on Myspace.com, squidoo.com, and all other social networking sites that talk about pool tables & your company.

example:  type in to google "pool tables" you will notice a video from youtube.com showing amazing pool tricks as #5.

Q&A Sites:  Sites like Yahoo allow you to answer peoples questions about Pool Tables.  What do you think I am doing?   my company (WebBizIdeas.com) is a web development & internet marketing firm...brand awareness.

*** The reason for all the content generated content is because you will need it when you contact these sites.  Example might be at the end of a Q&A you tell readers to go to your site to read more on "promotional marketing ideas"

  4. Hi,i know a site that can teach you how to get traffic for free.

    http://www.wealthyandrich.com/google

  5. Just try this software. It worked wonders for my website. I have no problem recommending it.

  6. I find that the best free way is to sign up for forums based on your niche and start posting.  Most forums allow you to place links in your signature, which are good for back links.

http://Forums.DigitalPoint.com is probably the best forum out there for webmasters, so I would give that one a try.

  7. The most effective way to advertise on the Internet is

to first set up a website and publish its domain name

on major search directories such as Google.com,

    Yahoo.com [at http://www.google.com/addurl/?...... and

MSN.com since 85% of Internet shoppers rely on these

search directories to provide them with goods and

services. In a sense, these search directories are a

    very large Internet Yellow Pages.

Nevertheless, should your website or opening webpage

fail to contain "generic" keywords, then anyone using

such "generic" queries will not be able to discover

your website. Your domain name [URL] of your website,

in a sense, will be invisible, undiscoverable.

You may want to consider some simple algorithms which,

when observed and committed in designing of a website

with placement of various critical metatags that can

surely achieve a high search engine presence and

increase Internet traffic to your website. These

metatag strategies work well with published webpages

    at Google and Yahoo.

Design: Should you create an extensive Flash-based

website, make sure to fill-in the property entries

such as the Title, Description and Keywords. Failing

to do so, leaves no hard HTML or ALT resource that can

be readily indexed by search robots. Also consider the

Internet audience and their incoming setup. For

example, if they are on analog/dialup, Flash webpages

take too long to load up and therefore analog users

will likely lose interest and discontinue entering the

Flash site. On the other hand, anyone on hi-speed DSL

lines, will welcome Flash pages which load quickly. So

before designing a pure Flash websitge, ask the simple

question, "Who's my end user - is he on dialup or

DSL?" And if you had to choose between these two users

for maximum marketability, then select analog users

since 80% of most resident users are still analog

Internet subscribers and pure HTML designed webpages

    is best for them.

A non-Flash-based website which relies on hard text,

is far easier to be indexed by search robots. Limit

the use of stylized text saved as .gifs since as a

graphic, they are not indexable by search robots.

Avoid use of frames since any number of search robots

are unable to properly classify textual material.

    Placement of Metatags:

A ranking or search order does take place with Google

and Yahoo and it begins with the "Title" metag which

should consist of no more than 65 characters separated

by commas. The "Title" should describe in generic

terms, the goods and services, followed by a location

from which the resource is located, i.e., city, state.

The placement of a domain name which is not generic

within the "Title" is not appropriate, unless your

domain name is a major recognizable brand name.

The second metatag is the "Description" which is

usually 25-30 words to form a complete sentence which

best describes one's goods and services.

And the very last category - "Keywords" are also

somewhat limited to 15-16 words which can be plural

and compound in nature. Again, avoid multiple entries

which could be mistaken as "spamdexed entries" which

is defined as the loading, and submission of

repetitive words into a particular metatag category.

"Spamdexing" when discovered on a webpage and reported

to Google's spamreport.com can result in the

elimination of your website from their search

    directory.

Here's an example of a very highly-placed website on

Google.com: Begin with the very "generic" search query

"sandwiches downtown los angeles," taking note to not

abbreviate Los Angeles to "LA" and of course, leave

out the parentheses ("). It will bring up some 2.4

million+ search results. Check out where "Nazos.net"

is ranked. It's ranked No. 1!

Again, Nazos.net's high web presence was achieved by

proper web design and placement of relevant metatags

    according to Google's publication guidelines.

    Good luck!
