What is the best way to get rid of rats?

I don't want to use poison as I have a dog. I got a big trap but the rat avoids it. I used cheese and peanut butter.

Try sticky traps. They've always worked for me, and PB is the best bait. The absolute best rat preventer though is a cat or cats.

I agree, a cat would be your best bet.

I think that glue traps are cruel because the mice die a slow death.

I've never had a problem with the catch and release traps.

They aren't very expensive so maybe you could try another model.
