What is the best way to get to the North West Territories from Edmonton?

How long of a drive would it be or is plane cheaper? What about train?

  1. If you like to drive, a little over 600 miles to the border. For me a plane is a last resort. I like to drive where ever I can.


  2. I guess the Northern line for starters.  I mean, you ARE talking about Edmonton in London aren't you?

There is no train service to most points in the NWT with the exception of an old freight line at Hay River.  An plane ride will run you about $1500 return, though seat sales are often available to make it more affordable, and driving from Edmonton to Yellowknife takes at least 22 hours, though most often 24 hours, and unless you have companions, you'd have to break your drive around High Level overnight.  And it's a LONG, BORING drive.
