What is the best way to go about learning to surf?

Not too expensive please. (Something on the coast of NSW Australia).

Get your *** out there with a board and a friend and learn.

The best way to do it is to start off on small local beach breaks.

Paying for lessons is pointless and pretty much a waste of time. But go out surfing with friends who may have a better understanding than you.

Also watch where all the others surfers are located, this will give you an idea on where abouts to be in the water. I recomend video jug for instructional videos on how to do a few moves.

Just find a friend or instructor who can teach you the first month or so then go at it. Until your really secure dont go alone. Take a friend with you at all times especially in australia. Thats some nice surf. Use a long board (9 ft) at least to start. Just work hard at it and you will get it. Have fun.

def go and get a lesson from a licenced surf school. the surfing australia or state body licenced surf schools are def the best. you will probs only need a lesson or two to get the basics then you just need to be hittin the surf as much as you can on the right equipment.......stay on a longer bigger board for longer and then start down sizing once you are nailin it and really conifdent out there catchign waves n ridin them...........good luck, hav fun its sikkkk sport........you can also use a couple of things like a carve board or indo board that will help you progress and improve when you are out of the water. indos - www.indoboards.com.au
