What is the best way to hang a small quilt on the wall?

I have my husband's baby blanket which is a small 5x5 hand sewn and embroidered quilt like blanket. It is very delicate and not exactly big enough to use the dowel rods to hang like I would a quilt. I want to hang it on the wall in the nursery for our soon to be here son. (4 more weeks!) What is the best way for me to sort of tack it to the wall or hang it without using a dowel or rod type hanger? Are there special tacs or hangers that wont hurt the fabric?

Thanks for looking.

  1. Look for small quilt hangers. These are usually wood, and the bigger the quilt is, the more you use. There are a couple of different styles - some have a groove that you slide the quilt through, and there's a marble inside to hold the quilt in place. To remove the quilt, you lift it up to release the marble and then slide it sideways. Others have two pieces that are held together with a decorative s***w. You place the quilt between the pieces and turn the fastener until it's snug. Both types have hangers on the back.

  2. Really, the best way is to sew a sleeve or a series of small loops on the back and slip a dowel rod cut to the right length through.  The next best thing to do is to use several small clips or clothes pins to hold the quilt, slide a dowel rod through the clips and hang it that way.
