  1. 1. Slide your hand carefully under your hamster's belly.

    2. Hold your other hand on it back so when you pull him out of his cage, he won't fall.

    3. Hold him to your chest with a hand on his back so he won't fall.

    Tips:

*If you are to nervous to hold your hamster, you can gently coax him into a small container and then dump him out lightly onto the floor, not more than one inch off the ground.

*You can also pick him up with gloves if you are afraid of him biting you.

  2. First put your hand in the cage and let your hamster sniff you and get used to you.

Second sit down and cup your hands and hold the hamster close to you and quietly talk to it to make it feel safe.

Next if your hamster still seems jumpy when being held give it a treat when its in your hand to make it feel safe. to make the hamster get used to you, you can put a little bit of peanut butter on your finger and let your hamster l**k it off to get used to you.

Also, make sure you wash your hands before you handle your hamster if you just ate because you might still have some foods that aren't good for your hamster and he'll l**k them off your hands.

  3. Put your hand in the cage and let the hamster sniff it a little, then gently lift the hamster from underneath and then hold it close to your body so it feels safe. It's also best, if your new to holding them, to be sitting on the floor in case the hamster falls. Never just swoop your hand in to grab the hamster, they're prey animals and will think your a bird swooping down to grab them up for a meal.

  4. If you place your hand in the cage and let it crawl onto your hand it be less fearful than if you just try to grab it.  The way I do it is I let her see my hand and then I lightly wrap my fingers around her waist long enough to get her out of her cage and close to a soft surface, then I let her run from one hand to another.

I would love to see pics if you have any!! ;-)
