  1. You can give a Treble hook a' shot (personally don't like/use them mainly because I practice Catch & Release") and or like bikerman2003 made mention of ie., wrappin' the bait in Panty Hose.

I Drift fish for Steelhead and I'll use what is known as an Egg Loop Knot (link) this enables Roe (Salmon eggs) ta' be held in place on the hook, along with a wrap of some nylon webbed material ("Spawn Sack Material"), that is like a Wedding Vail (same concept as the Panty Hose). Good luck and "Fish On" ;)... < ' ( (( > <

  2. you can wrap the meat in a piece of pantyhose then put it on the hook. Try it, it works.

  3. i would use bait elastic, other wise pva webbing, as that will disolve and leave meat on hook

  4. by the heel between the sinew and the bone. Its strong and  will hold.

  5. Use the weight of the meat to get it right on there.

  6. Use a hook that is big enough- too many anglers use hooks that are too small. Also use a thicker guage wire hook- very thin wire rips through the meat.

Push the hook through the meat, twist it around 90 degrees and put a tiny piece of grass between the hook bend and meat (the fish won't mind), then pull line tight to pull hook back into the meat.

Sometimes the above method restricts the strike pulling into the fish but generally I have no problems- if a carp for example wants the meat, you'll hook it.

Alternatively, you can hair rig the meat using a knotless knot to create a small length of line near the hook- tie a small loop, pull the loop through the meat with a baiting needle and then use either a small piece of grass as a stop, or a proper hair stop.

    Hope this helps.
