Just reading does not help in vocabulary either. You have to make conscious effort in the usage of a word in a particular context. You have to understand how the vocab word is being applied to situations. I've been using this website precisely for this purpose - http://www.vocabusage.info I've been using dictionary sites earlier but I was always forgetting what I've learned pretty quickly.
