  1. run a mile and a half every day :)


  2. It depends on how far your running. Be more specific next time.

    Running a 100 is a little different then running a half marathon.

You need to build up your cardiovascular strength in order to drastically increase your speed.  I take it you're already on  a running regimen...so, increase your spikes.  If you run comfortably at 6.0 mph, then do a 1 minute spike at 7.5 mph (or whatever is faster than what you've been doing).  Do the spikes for 1 minutes and then a slower pace for 2.  The idea is to increase your heart rate (over what you normally raise it to) and then lower is down again.  I'd say within a week your average speed should increase.
