What is the best way to increase running speed and endurance for football?

I know run. But are there any tools to improve results without risk of injury or should I just go old school style and just spend long summer hours just running and sprinting. I don't have any hills or anything to run up either.

  1. have u tried squats or leg press to increase strength? there are speed and agilty camps u can look up and join
