Yeah, boys are tough! My son liked Bionicles, Playmobile building sets. Also, most younger ones will draw, color or paint if you're up for it.....good luck!

Take him to the park and let him run run run until he's worn out. Boys were made to MOVE.

play outside or with action figures. they love their action figures

Assuming you mean in the house, buy a bunch of those little cars. Boys will play with them for hours. Also, you can buy a bunch of different toys at a dollar store. Because they are so cheap, you can buy alot.  Unfortunately in this day and age, not much compares to video games.

take him on long walks - and each walk make a 'theme' where he has to make a note of particular things

IE butterflies

flowers

drain hole covers

car types

horses/cows

cats/dogs

.... make up your own

not sure if you are thinking of your own child but if you are then perhaps next year consider hosting a child from chernobyl of a similar age so that your child has company?

Outside - Big Wheel or other type of "car".

Inside - Matchbox cars, coloring books, puzzles.

Play..... well do anything with him that involves imagination and you come up with healthy play.
