  1. I think that the green bags you can get these days are your best bet, they last much longer, when I get extra, I peel them and put in sandwich bags then put chocolate over them and peanuts for a frozen treat, kids love them and I did this for my kids over 40 years ago  and now for the grandkids.  Also you can put them on a sprayed cookie sheet and slice them and put in freezer, after a few minutes, take them out and put them into freezer bags just to munch on, they are icey and good.

  2. Truthfully, hanging on one of those lame bananas hooks. Bananas brown  faster in the fridge and the flavor changes, so never refrigerate, It accelerates the ripening. Also bananas tternd to brown on the side it leans on,thats why they make these hangers, no touching edges. Room temp, dark area on a ban. hook for longest freshness and best taste. At least out at room temp if you dont want that ban tree on the counter.

  3. I usually buy about six at a time with two of them being a bright yellow. The next two are the color green/yellow and the last two mostly green. As I eat them the greenest are ripening and usually ready to eat in several days, so pick out a variety of ripeness and your bananas will never turn brown all at once and I just keep them on my counter. Good luck.

  4. Bananas turn black in the fridge. When I was a kid, there was a radio commercial featuring the following song:

I am Chiquita Banana and I come to say

Bananas should be ripened in a certain way.

When they are flecked with brown and have a golden hue

Bananas are their very best and best for you.

You can eat them in a salad,

You can eat them in a pie - Ay!

Any way you want to eat them,

    It's impossible to beat them!

But bananas are accustomed to the very, very tropical Equator,

So you should never put bananas in the refrigerator! No, no, no, no!

  5. I tried hanging them on a banana tree, and left them in the kitchen... no good... so then I put them in the fridge... no good... so my next place was the Pantry, hanging them still on the tree, and its the best place. I cannot think of another , but still I do not have them very long as I have one each morning for my Breakfast, with an Actimel, and a cup of coffee. My Doctor   congratulated  me for doing the right thing, and said that was very healthy.

  6. BANANA BAGS!!!!!!! i saw a commericial for it on tv

  7. yeah or if you want keep them longer, just put them in the freezer until they turns brown.. it will be good for milkshakes.

  8. Keep them in the fridge.  If you keep them out, they produce those annoying little flies.

  9. do not store bananas in the fridge.  they will turn brown very quickly.  they can be stored at room temp for quite a period of time.  If you need to keep them for a longer period try to buy greener ones.

A good rule is if the grocer stores them at room temp so can you.  They are very concerned with shelf life and if refrigeration would prolong their time to sell, you can be sure they would do anything.

FYI tomatoes should also never go in fridge....

  10. out or in fridge
