Does the zinc strips work, and if they do where do you put them.

  1. I sprayed a bleach water mixture on my shingles in an area that was getting mold and haven't seen any for years.  Dont know how good this is for the shingles though.  Nothing bad came out of it yet.

  2. keep it dry, don't let water run on it. Condensation from AC can cause that. just keeep it dry dammit.

  3. no cut the tress back it's to shady

  4. The mold you are observing is most likely moss. This is a natural occurrence, however, the growth should be removed for aesthetic reasons and it will reduce the life expectancy of the shingle by retaining moisture.

The proper way to remove this growth is to chemically kill the spores by lightly spraying the growth with deck wash or EPA approved algecide. This solution kills the mold spores and retards future growth. Copper sulfate and zinc also r****d growth however this can lead to streaking.  It is extremely important to never use a power wqsher as this will strip the granular covering and ruin the roofing composite.

  5. mold poison.

  6. once a year i put bleach and water in a pump sprayer and spray the roof and no mold
