I have a .22 marlin, and took it apart ALL the way to clean it and couldn't put it back together. I don't want to break this gun, and I want it to be in good shape no matter how much I shoot it. As far as oil goes and general cleaning. thanx

  1. Militec lubricants - good stuff makes cleaning easier

  2. What Mongo said RTFM (read the freakin' manual)

  3. You'd better let someone already familiar with the assembly n re-assembly of the P-89 walk you through the process.  Although not complicated it is difficult to explain on-line and it is better if someone is there to show you.

A good powder/copper solvent (like Hoppe's #9) is all you need to clean away burnt powder residue in the frame, slide & barrel.  Break-Free works well for lubrication.  Just lube the slide rails on the frame and the slide itself.  Wipe away with a Q-tip any excess.  Run a clean silicon rag (or just a clean rag) over the exterior to wipe away moisture & sweat from handling.  If you have the stainless steel P-89 this is really easy.

    You have a nice pistol, a real 'war-horse!'  I wish I hadn't sold mine.

  4. The pistol came with an Owners Manual. There is a ton of need to know information in there. Like how to field strip and clean the pistol. If you don't have the manual they are free upon request from Ruger. You can download or be sent a copy.
