I got my 360 about a week ago but as soon as i brought it home I got the 3 ring red eye (SOL) anyway i sent it into the repair office in Toronto and am waiting to get it back, I'd like to know how to keep it from doing this again. Any advice is appreciated P.S I don't want a shotty PS3 so don't tell me anything about how good PS3's are THNX.

  1. 4 things to do to prevent it from the RROD as much as possible

1- DO NOT Keep it standing Vertically cause the airflow in the bottom will be blocked and its important for the console to be horizontally placed to have as much air sucked in as possible

2- Keep it in a Very good ventilated area nothing on top of it or next to it and never put it next to anything that generates heat

3- Keep the Power Brick (Adapter) in a very will ventilated area too because it has a fan inside and if it got so hot it will cause the RROD

4- This is important, NEVER add any kind of cooling units that get attached to the console from the back side and uses power from you xbox360 console cause it will reduce the power that the console needs and it will cause it to fail, and it won't make it any cooler.

  2. i'd suggest a cooling unit.as for keeping it from taking a s@#$,i don't think you can.mine did that and they sent me a new one.the day i got the new one though it did the same but would restart if i turn it off,so now a couple of times a week i get the E68 error code.but hey if it dies again i get another 3yr warranty.still sucks to be without while you wait though,i had to ply my wii...ugh!

  3. Put it standing up

    Buy a cooler for it

Leave it in a ventilated area

Eject all games before shutting it down

Don't drop it or try to fix it yourself
