Will a surge protector help? Or does that only protect the electronic device you are plugging into the car lighter? I realize nothing is foolproof.

  1. You might have to re-ground it.

  2. I was going to suggest leaving the cigar lighter out and not using it, but I'm guessing your running all kinds of accessories off of it. Firstly, don't get a higher amperage fuse for it. I know the cigar lighter circuit doesn't run into much but that's just not very good practice. Second, the cigar lighter is meant for heating up the lighter element, not 20 different fast and furious lights. If your running all kinds of accessories to it, wire them up to something else. If it's doing this with just your cell phone charger or something, then you might want to go to a local shop and see if they can find a problem in that wiring circuit.

  3. Put in a higher amp fuse.
