  1. Spray any effected plants with Ortho Bug B Gone Max.  This kills beetles and keeps them away for weeks.  Then a few weeks later spray it again and they won't come back.  Don't use beetle traps as they only attract more and nobody in their right mind will let you put them on their property.  Dispite the organic methods that you are sure to here from other users, they are simply not as effective as chemicals unless everybody around you uses them.

  2. You probably have them because there are grubs in the soil

Use Milky Spore Powder this year with the traps.  Drop some in your neighbors yard or close to it and it will kill off their grubs too - then in a year or two, it will have spread enough to eliminate the problem or at least reduce greatly.

You could share the cost with all neighbors if they're having the same problem.

Milky Spore Powder grows and spreads in the soil and kills only grubs - meaning, no beetles!

  3. The best way is to give your neighbor a japanese beetle trap.  They will be lured away.

  4. As the person said above a Japanese Beetle trap...it would be funny if you could get away with putting it in a neighbors yard.  The traps usually consist of a hanging baggie that you tie to a tree or put on a stake.  I belive they are scented with Japanese Beatle pheromones to attract them during mating season.  They drop down into the baggies and they get stuck and die as they are quite clumsy.  When the bag fills up you can destroy it, throw it out, put in compost, etc.  They usually sell them at gardening centers, farm and seed supply stores, or even wal-mart.
