  1. Usually it costs money for swimming lessons however most pools have a free swim or its only a couple bucks. I would suggest trying to swim by starting in the shallow area and getting in a little deeper and get a feel for it all...Also if you know anyone who does swim maybe a friend or something they might show you a few things for free just to go have a good time in the pool with you. Good Luck! You can do it!

  2. Join a swim team or take lessons.  The YMCA or many sports clubs offer them.  I dont know how old you are,  but in highschool if you join a swim team you learn the strokes.  Colleges also offer classes on swimming.

  3. well, i swim competitively and have been swimming uncompetitive since i was about 2. The best way to learn to swim is just go out with some people that know how to and simply get in the water and watch what they do and mimic it....if you want to swim competitively you will have to know what technique you want to use...there are about 5-8 diffident strokes...but the best way to learn is to do, its much like riding a bike!, hope i helped and good luck! :) (hope i see you t next years Olympic trials!)

  4. Usually it costs money for swim lessons.  And the type of lessons depend on how old you are, which you didn't say.

  5. go to your local pool and the recreation department, there are swim coaches everywhere. you can get private lessons if you're older or group lessons if you're a kid.

Good luck, it's a great idea to learn how to swim =)
