  1. Hi,

There's a great FAQ's section on http://www.dollar4dime.com to learn rules and tips, and great free game play to practise your new trade

  2. The best way to learn is to play.  I go to three free live tournaments at different bars in my area and play against real people.  Books will help you learn the ropes on odds, online helps nothing, but live will help you the most.

I say read first, play second.

  3. http://www.pokerstrategy.com/uBBSLB  offers free videos and articles and starting capital, absolutely amazing

  4. i would play on any free site...Aol games, yahoo games.

    Pokerstars.com

    fulltiltpoker.com

    partypoker.com

    thefreepokerroom.com

    good luck!

  5. There are a multitude of poker sites that actually teach you. These sites have tests and other bonuses.

Playing with play money is strongly not advised the game is not the same at all.

this one will let you learn all forms of poker or just the one you want. I started with NL holdem but have since progressed to small tourneys . its up to you. but this is a great resourse for learning any form of poker you want. trust me you'll like it. I have watched the videos used the forum, and most importantly profited from this resource.

    I hope this helps.

oh also not part of your question but there is a free starting capital on this site if you can pass the test. Took me 3 times(I had never played poker before). A friend from work got it first time in 15 mins. It can be done (its open book ;) )

but really the play money games are NOT the same as real money games. use the site, read, learn, practice, review, practice, PROFIT!

Have fun. and see you at the tables.

  6. WWW.POKERSTARS.NET OR .COM POKER IS FUN U WILL LIKE IT WHEN U LEARN.

  7. First, you'd need to choose a type. Texas Hold'em is the most popular.

After that, read the rules. You may not understand them since you're new to the game. You definitely want to learn the hand ranks though, like what beats what.

Then, you can go to www.fulltiltpoker.net and download the poker game they offer. You can play poker for free with thousands of other players.

I recommend that because you can view a table instead of taking a seat and playing. You can watch how the game works and then when you're ready, have a seat and practice playing online.

That's how I learned. Oh, you could also buy a cheap poker set ($10-20) and practice with family/friends.

    Good Luck!

  9. The Best Way to learn it is playing it. Practice makes perfect.

But of Course it is a good thing to read about poker strategies or watch tutorial videos.

I can also recommend the books by David Sklansky, Mike Caro and Doyle Brunson and for tournament play in No Limit Holdem: Harrington on Holdem.

If You start out playing free poker then You have to be careful when switching to real money. The game is so much different when people actually have to PAY for their mistakes and don't have a "refill play money" button.

There are many poker schools online that will even give You a free poker bankroll to get started like: Pokerstrategy, PokerRoomSchool etc.

If You are interested in testing Your poker skills at real money tables without investing own money then visit:

  10. I would get a poker program for a game system like ps2 and play it a lot.
