What is the best way to learn the piano?

For my summer project, I'm planning on learning how to play the piano and guitar. I was just wondering wht the best way to go about doing it. (I dont wanna hire someone to teach me, just wanna do it at home). What can i start learning first...and stuff like that

  1. Buy a portable key board  from your local music shop that shows the digital keys for both hands,displayed on its console

    . There are popular songs that are programmed on its data base,in which you can follow and play in your own time.

    It will teach you timing for both hands that can eventually be played simulataneously.

    You can also find sites on the net which specialize in music tuition with the keyboard.

I play the piano and my daughter plays the violin, I'm a firm believer in the "Suzuki" method.  The books get progressively harder and teach skills as you progress, I would suggest these.  If you know how to read music you should do ok, and if you don't read music then you'll want to pick up music theory books (which actually couldn't hurt either way).  Good luck!
