  1. just tax those other bags. something small like 5 cents. you can use that money to subsidise reusable bags to make them more affordable.

  2. What works in other countries is to charge for the use of plastic or paper bags. This way, there would be a financial incentive to use cloth bags. And plastic bags will still be available to those who want them… at a small cost.

  3. Make the bag a fashion accessory. Give people a wide variety of colors and designs. Make it crush-able so it's easy to carry in a purse or pocket. Make it amazingly expandable, yet sturdy. The attempt would be to have it become a part of peoples' lives.....like bags, briefcases, purses, wallets, and sunglasses.

  4. Yo momma is endangering the planet.

It's not the main issue. We're not going to stop global warming by saving a few trees. It would help the environment a little, but really, trees are cut down every day.

Even a little contribution can help, and it won't be that big of a deal to use cloth bags. On the other hand, you can't make people do anything.

  5. What moron believes plastic and paper bags endanger the planet?

Paper - it is composed of plant fiber that is built upon Carbon Dioxide sucked from the air.  The more of it you use, the more CO2 is taken from the air.  You were told that CO2 is the enemy, weren't you?  Or were you told using paper was the enemy?

Which lie do you want to believe?

Plastic bags recycle into building materials and sweaters.  So do plastic bottles.  Okay, that is a bit more toxic than using paper, so I'd be okay with using less plastic.

Those re-usable bags are mostly made in China then shipped all the way over here.  Look at the label carefully.  How much fuel was burned to get it all the way into your hands, by truck, then ship, then truck...?  If you can't buy locally made ones, they aren't worth all the pollution created to get them here!

Plus, China has lousy pollution controls.  To buy a Chinese-made product is to generate a lot more pollution than to buy the same product made in America.

So, you want to ban something to force people to obey your own viewpoint?  That sounds rather Communist.  And not very well thought out.

  6. Tell the stores not to supply bags anymore.  That way, people will be forced to bring their own.

  7. Why not charge for the bags?   It's costing the store money to buy them in the first place and they aren't giving anything else away there.

  8. well we need to be more environmentally conscious.  We are destroying our planet little by little everyday. We need to put in something to help the planet.

  9. Make them pay for the bags.

  10. It costs more energy to make 1 reusable bag than it done to make 5,000 plastic bags.

Out of a barrel of oil besides gas and other by products you can get enough plastic to make anywhere between 5,000 to 50,000 bags depending on size quality and thickness.

Reusable bags cost more have more by waste (Think of how you cut patterns out of fabric) Are taxed by the government AND ARE MADE IN CHNA. One of the worst polluters on the planet who don’t care about worker health or the environment.

Recycle the plastic bags, stop with the reusable ones they cost more energy and in the long run, benefit only China and the government.

  11. How about you use the bags you want, and I'll use the bags I want, and nobody "makes" anyone do anything - that's called living a free society.

Also, how do paper bags "endanger the planet?"   They biodegrade quickly and trees, you might be surprised to learn, are a renewable resource - the timber companies plant new trees whenever and wherever they cut trees down.

Lastly, some of us re-use plastic shopping bags as trash bags.    I can't use paper for that purpose since my trash includes wet paper towels from cleaning, a paper or plastic cup that still has a few drops of liquid in it, the fat I trimmed off a piece of meat before cooking it, the wrapper from the meat, egg shells, etc.....   and paper bags leak.    I haven't bought a plastic trash bag in years - if you took away plastic shopping bags, I'd just have to buy plastic trash bags and then the same amount of plastic would be used.

And no, it's not crazy to separate out your purchases - there's a reason they don't put the fresh fruit with the red meat.   Jeez....

  12. By using and giving out limited amounts of plastic bags to the buyers. This will make them have to put everything in one bag.

Do you know, they waste so much plastic bags just because they have to separate the stuff into bags like 1 for stationary, 1 for toys,1 for food, 1 for fruits even. Crazy huh!

  13. by making people aware by mass media or so

  14. You problem is the work "make" people in a free society object to being forced to do anything.

  15. You could start a program of several people making tote bags out of canvas or cotton and sell them at a reasonable price~http://henriettashandbags.com/free_handb...

  16. You could stand there and shoot anyone who doesn't do what you want them to, but that's against the law in this country.

You sound like you'd be quite at home in the n**i regime.

  17. LOL I shop at Savealot and they charge you for the bag or you can have there old box's that the products came in . I don't mind using the old box's at all and save allot  of money there
