  1. i dont know about making money, but me and my friends call preety much any peoples in our phone book and tell them to bring friends. WE have 3 tables in our house. Just call lots of people or email and tell them to invite people

  2. So long as it IS organized a lot of that will be your personal preference.  Be sure you have enough tables and chairs for everybody.  Then determine starting chip stacks, chip denominations, blinds, level times, and payouts.  If you have enough people for a multi-table tournament know in advance how you will combine the tables.  The more you do in advance the smoother your tournament will run.  I printed off a list of "house rules" that I posted in my poker room for things like string bets, how to deal with SB/BB busting out, smoke/bathroom breaks, cell phones, etc.  Here's a quick setup for a single table game with your friends.

    $20 buy in

10 players, draw cards for seat positions.

Draw cards again for the button (or just say the person who drew the ace is automatically the button).

    1500 starting chip stacks.

Blinds at 10/20, increase every 20 minutes.

    Break every hour.

Color out chips during every break.

Have two decks going, so while button is dealing the SB is shuffling the deck for the next hand.

    3rd place gets $40, 2nd place gets $60, 1st place gets $100.

That's just a quick way to organize your tournament.  Getting people to come shouldn't be too hard.

  3. I'd start by finding some rich people first with lots of money to gamble, unless your gonna bet things like your car, your laptop, you house deeds, etc.
