  1. I started mine under fluorescent lights in a seed starting mix.

When they were transplantable for a larger pot, I set them in a sunny window for indoor year round availablility.......but they can be planted in the ground after that too......I used ammended soil rich with peat and compost.....tilled.......and ready for planting.

If you have seasons with cold winters, I'd pot them in a window box so that you can bring them indoors for winter picking too.

  2. Either plant two or three seeds in a small pot, or plant directly in the garden.  It doesn't matter.  If you plant in pots before it is warm enough to plant

outside in the spring you will have a head start on the growing season.

You could also leave them in the pots and bring them inside when it gets cold for the winter.

  3. Unfortunately there is not one answer to your question.

Different herbs have different needs when you are trying to start them from seed.

Some are best started in small pots in a seed raising mix and then divided up to plant into the garden.

Others are best planted in the garden in well cultivated soil in the place you want them to grow.

The best idea is to read the pack of each seed variety thoroughly as the packs should have the details that relate to the variety.

    Good luck!
