I would like to know the best way to plant tulip bulbs indoors. My boyfriend brought them back from Amsterdam but I can't plant them outdoors because the deer will destroy them instantly.

  1. They will need a chilling before they will bloom.  How you do that depends on your situation.  I have chilled the bulbs in the refrigerator, kept in a brown sack for several months and then planted them and they bloomed.  Better is the plant them and then chill them.  Refrigerator is out unless you have a spare one.  Instead you can save the bulbs until it gets colder...November or so. (keep them out of sun and in a cool room, no plastic, use paper bags)   Plant them and set the pots outside in a container that will keep the deer away.  Remember to water the pots thru this chilling and in February start bringing them indoors.

  2. Start them in clay pots or window boxes.

  3. They need to be refrigerated for at least 6 weeks, but it's way to early to plant.
