What is the best way to pocket the eight ball on the break for the win?

I have a normal break stance on the right side where the first two diamonds meet on the table. I aim the cue ball directly at the first ball and I can usually sink one or two balls. I would like to add the eight ball break to my skills. I can't seem to find any tips on a solid eight ball break.

  1. Its true love life is correct however-------  when you strike the ball low left english your target should be the third ball, nicking the second ball as thinly as you can cut it. the 8 ball will roll in the right side pocket. it works for me about 2 out of ten times.

  2. put the stick under the white ball and shoot it as it jumps in the air and it will go straight to the 8 ball

  3. . The break!! Just be happy to pocket two or more balls and have the table open for the run. . 8 ball break is a lot of luck not a high percentage shot. plus  only a few places will give a win with a 8  ball break.

  4. I don't think there is any skill just luck.

  5. life_loverfl is correct.  Break with the cueball as far to the side as possible and strike the second object ball (the one BEHIND the apex ball) using low outside english.  The low outside english is simply so you can avoid a scratch.  By doing this, the back row of balls will quickly go to the end rail and kick the 8-ball up table.  It's very common for the 8 to either go in the side pocket (same side you're breaking from) or the headside corner pocket (also same side you're breaking from).  So if you break on the right side, the 8 will probably go in a pocket on the right side.

  6. Life is correct, but in pool games that matter (BCA rules) 8 ball breaks don't count.  They should be breakers choice of a spot or rerack.  If you think about it, it doesn't even make sense for it to be a win to make the 8 ball on a break.  Can you play combos on it for a win?  In the opening kick off of a football game if the kicker kicks the ball threw the goal post should that be a win?  8 ball break wins are L.A.M.E lame.  Good luck, and keep rackn em up!

  7. Think "LUCKY" thoughts. my friend! Pocketing the "EIGHT" ball, from the break is a VERY RARE occurrence!

  8. From the right side of the table, place the cue ball is close to the head string as you can and about three or four inches away from the rail. Strike the cue ball with bottom left hand English and aim for the second ball, but so close to the first ball that you ALMOST hit it first. Keep your cue as close to parallel to the table as possible. Practice that and you will have the 8 ball rolling outside the rack before you know it.

  9. Jude has is correct, life_lover almost does. You want to hit the second ball with low OUTSIDE english. This means if you are breaking from the right side, you want right hand english, not left. This will help the cue ball to come off the side rail and back up into the center of the table if you don't pocket the 8 (and you usually won't). Also, a lot of people will pop the cue ball off the table when trying this break. This is because they are catching the first ball. Precise aiming is critical, so make sure you're only contacting the second ball.

  10. It is pretty much just luck getting the 8 off the break.  You could practice your break and see what gives you the highest percentage of 8's when breaking however, what fun would it be to consistently get the 8 off the break?  You wouldn't be able to play a game!

  11. just hit it as hard as you can, and put top english
