What is the best way to prevent your xbox 360 from overheating?

i was wondering what is the best way to prevent over heating seeing as the red ring is such a big thing now a days.

Well i have my xbox 360 on a shelf, nothings toughing the xbox 360, and air can come on it from all sides (except bottom). ive played 4 hours once and it never overheatet, i touched it and it wasnt really that hot...

also dont put it on a carpet, i heard that not good for ur xbox 360 and dont put it near a heater or anything that gives out lots of warmth.Hope that helped

my xbox is in front of the ac/heater vent. I heard putting a wet towel on it works. i never tried it though.

you want to let it have some breathing room- just dont keep it in a little shelf with only one way out, the hot air can stay inside that space making the xbox warmer. you also dont want to use it that much. instead if playing for 5 hours straight , play every other hour.
