What is the best way to print my own t-shirts?

I'm designing t-shirts just for personal use. Is the transfer paper they sell at target of good quality; would the shirts last? If not what is a good company to send a design to for them to print?

  1. Transfer paper is good, for short term use. Like parties, family reunions and such where you're going to wear the shirt once or twice. Sometimes more if you treat it well. The best transfer paper I've found is a company called Hyatt. They are sold online at sites such as www.screenprintingsuperstore.com or www.blankshirts.com, they hold up well, and can stretch a little, which is always a good thing.

Screen printing is your best option if you want it to last a long time, it is a little more expensive. Check out www.easyshirts.com I think they have a price list on their front page, it will get you a ball park at least.

Good luck to you. Printing shirts is awesome fun.

  2. Depending on the transfer paper, the image could fade over time or run if it gets wet. I have had good and bad experiences. The best ones were with a smoother t shirt rather than scratchy. I would suggest taking it to a pro though because that is the best way. I hope this helps. Good Luck!!
