I live with smokers and I don't smoke so it can be really annoying sometimes. Its very unproffessional showing up where I work smelling like a giant cigg. Any advice?

  1. First of all, you should purchase a good air purifier - this will keep much of the smoke from settling on your furniture and carpeting.

I have found that using a powdered carpet deodorizer for the rug and then using a fabric deodorizer, like Febreeze, on the couches and chairs wirks the best at eliminating the smell quickly.

  2. clean out the ash trays often. pour baking soda  in the ash trays so that when a smoker ashes their cigarette the heat turns into co 2  (the good stuff) it eliminates those smelly oders. try it

  3. Kick the smokers outside, then follow the instructions that DreamMis gave you.

  4. forget about it. I"m a non-smoker and no matter what you do , you will always get that disgusting, stale odor. You can try and of course you will, but once there has been habitual smoking indoors you will never have that smoke-free smell.

  5. I smoke in my house, but I clean my walls with bleach regularly.  I use a spray bottle (clearly marked that it is cleaner) and mix bleach and water in it, about half and half.  Then sprtiz the walls and scrub.  You can also put up one of those "stick up" air fresheners in your closet, or keep some dryer sheets in there on the shelf to help your clothes stay smelling nice.  Hope this helps.

  6. You can use fabric refreshers like Febreze to get the smell out but for something a bit stronger, I recommend Oust - it tends to eliminate and not just cover up.  For something stronger than that, there is a spray product called Ozium (I only seem to find it at the carwash but I know hospitals have also used it) and it's an air sanitizer.  I use it to kill the smell of cigarettes as well.  Hope this helps you.

  7. Few odors are more odious, especially to non- and reformed smokers, than lingering cigarette smoke. Whether your goal is to get healthy or to get a loved one off your back, it's easy to keep your home from smelling like the local roadhouse. Just throw open your windows and try out one or more of these easy tricks.

    Vacuum

    Baking Soda

    Fabric-softener Sheets

    Several Small Bowls

    Zippered Plastic Bag

Place small items (such as gloves, a wool hat or a small pillow) in a zippered plastic bag with a couple of fabric-softener sheets. Leave overnight.

    Step4

Fill ashtrays with cat litter to extinguish cigarettes and capture the odor.

    Step5

Sprinkle baking soda liberally on carpets, rugs and upholstery around the room. Let it sit overnight. Vacuum.

    Step6

Soak a rag or a dish towel in vinegar, wring out the excess and wave it around the room for a minute or two.
