  1. Go to AA!!!

  2. Keeping the c**p out of your house is a good start. After work on the drive home, take a route that does not pass by a bar or pub to avoid temptatation.

  3. lol Kosuke...they wanna stop drinkin...hang wit ppl who dont drink or only hang with your friend n situtation where alcohol isnt presentand stay away from place where u know u will want 2 drink e.g nightclubs.  try AA if u have a serious problem tho...basically if u see alcohol  RUN!!

  4. lol no.. but everytime you have a craving for alcohol slap yourself in the face

  5. If you drink beers, then start drinking wine in moderation.

  6. The "best" way is to check into a rehab program.  Most people can't afford that obviously, so you should find a local AA group that can help you get through it.

  7. Don't convince yourself that you need to replace one crutch with another. The only thing you need is willpower. If you haven't got the will to quit, and i hope you have, then i am not sure who can help you.If you can't do it for yourself then do it for your children because they deserve to have a father. I love my dad and he actually died once from a heart attack when he was 60 &  i was 15.Luckily the glory of the Doctors at the Hospital were able to revive him.Don't put your addiction above your children.Tell yourself that you are better than the alcohol you seem to depend upon.Focus on the future and the life ahead with your kids.

  8. AA meetings. My dad has been sober for a year now thanks to that :)

  9. there is no patch that i know of but i do know that there is a pill  that you can get from a doc thatwill makeyou sick if you drink with it i think it is called no booze or something like that.

  10. just tell your self enough is enough  and maybe give church a try and don't put your self in a place where alchol is around.

  11. rehab

  12. You need the power to know the mind is a terrible thing to waste. Nothing can control you, you must control the situation and the outcome.

    say it with me

I DO NOT NEED A BEER TO WAKE UP!

  13. Unfortunately there's no such thing as an alcohol patch - unless you wet the bed, though there is a way to stop drinking it....... Rub your nose in it.

I too have often woken up, and have had whisky on my cornflakes (just without the cornflakes), and have found by waking up less inebriated, I have less tendency to reach for the bottle.

    Invariably it's dry anyway......

Excercise, and maybe the support of AA might help you, or in my case, getting a job that you HAVE to go to.

I get my kicks at night nowadays.

Cut down drinking slowly, and with a bit of luck, you'll stop wanting to drink first thing in the morning.

    Good luck fella.

    EDIT.

Alcoholics come from all walks of life, and many are extremely caring, loving, and as you said have a family.

It's the urge, and none of us really want to die an agonising death with liver failure.

I'm sure I'm well on that road, as I've been on about a bottle of Scotch every day for the last 4 years, and started drinking when I was 15 - some 27 years back.

I won't need cremating - just a careless match should do the trick, yet in the meantime I can cope with things.

    Apart from depression.

That kills first, and I need the booze to avoid that, though by default it brings me down.

I am happy, I can be sad. I can be amazing, I can be me....

I'm shy and yet the booze talks.

    Sometimes,

    Just sometimes...

    It gets me in trouble.

  14. Well there is an alcohol patch in the making but it doesn't look like it's going to be released for a while, I'd say the best way to curb the drinking is to join AA or something, at least if you're surrounded by others having the same problem you can all experience and learn from each others mistakes.

  15. Find something else to do instead of drink. And avoid situations where you will likely encounter alcohol.

  16. bring vinegar and put it in ur drink

  17. a friend of mine quit smoking after twenty five years when he went to a hypnotist and he said that it was instant results... he tried to smoke after his hypnotism session but it tasted terrible and he hasn't smoked since! seriously look into that before you go into AA and leave all of your friends who drink!

  18. No, the only way to recover is to stop drinking entirely.  It might take a while, but there's a pretty good recovery rate for alcoholism.  Some people don't need any outside help.  If you tried quitting yourself, and it failed, I'd look at AA.  That might take a while, or it just doesn't work, so then rehab is the next option.

BTW, I don't think this applies to you, but just in case: If you start to shake without drinking it's because the alcohol has replaced the function of GABA in your brain.  All it means is you need a safe medical detox first, I think it takes about a week.  It's an inpatient thing, though, so they can ensure you are not drinking and that they are giving you GABA to prevent the shaking.

Good luck, you've already taken the first step in recognizing a problem.

  19. i forgot the name of it but there are these pills you can take that will make you throw up if you take any alcohol. you should really research that if you have a drinking problem, sorry i dont remember the name of the pill

  20. to tell you the truth i really dont think there is such thing as a alchol patch. but i guess it would be fine to have one, once in a while. if u just have a hobbie to take your mind off of drinking. hope that helps!

  21. no there is no patch..just don't be around it. Don't go out to bars and don't have any in your freezer

  22. It will get better everyday, you just have to let your body heal.  Just avoid any situation that would put you in temptations way for booze.  Good luck and good for you!

  23. AA..

or don't hang out with people who drink anymore.  worked for me.

  24. stop drinking.

  25. Quit drinking.

  26. Go to AA and don't hang out with people who drink!

  27. I'm sorry there is no miracle cure for this.  If you are in the stage in which you need alcohol in the morning you really can't handle this by yourself.  Contact AA they will help you even provide an emergency support person to come and talk to you or talk by phone.  Meetings are totally anoymous and are really the only way to stop.  Please give them a call.  Your life is just beginng to hit bottom whether you realize it or not.  I really care and hope you will pick up the phone.
