Question:

What is the best way to recycle soap bars?

You know when the soap bar is worn out and there's only a small piece left, that usually breaks and isn't as good? We've tried putting them in water for some time then squeezing them together but it doesn't keep them as one for long.

Is there a way I can find to keep using those tiny soap bar pieces till their last breath? =)

Thanks!

  1. I shred them up and add them to my home made laundry detergent.

  2. I stick it to the new bar as well. Might take a couple of days. The thinner the better. HTH

  3. That's just nasty.

  4. Melt it. Stick the bar in something shaped like a rectangle and put it in the microwave, then let it cool. Or heat it up and pour into a mold.

  5. At the risk of (sounding like) advocating consumerism which I'm not, at the same time using all things to the best possible end,

Walmart or Dillons/Kroger have small nylon holders sewn together like a mitten made specifically for this use.

It's very handy and if a woman has small hands, it would fit four fingers to cleanse.

  6. I no longer have that problem.  At Walmart (prob. available at any store) I found a bar soap holder thing.  It is made of the same netting as the washing puffs (I hope you know what I mean)  It is closed at one end and open and closes on the other end so you can put your soap in the middle and it is a puff with built in soap so you just wash away.  When the soap gets small you just add another bar into the secret opening and keep going-leaving the small piece there too.

  7. Put them all into the toe of a clean stocking or knee-high, knot it closed (cut off the part of the stocking you don't need) and you have a soapy pouf for bath or shower.

  8. Stick it to side of the new bar.

  9. I heard you can turn them into laundry detergent.

  10. start saving them in a botlle, when you have enough saved, you mix it with water and you'll have your homemade bodywash with all the different soaps you used :)

  11. Hi you can save the tiny bits till you have enough then get a sauce pan and slowly melt them get a mold out even a cookie cutter let semi harden then pour into the mold our into the cutter walla new soap .....make sure it is on wax paper easy removal...
