What is the best way to remove existing weeds and their root-balls in my lawn?

Spray them with Ortho Weed B Gone Max. Allow a few weeks for them to wilt and then dig them out by the root using a small hand shovel or some other sort of weed pulling tool.  Then overseed the grass so the grass becomes thicker and lets less weeds in.  

A healthy, thick lawn is the best form of weed control.

Get the Weed Queen or some other weed removal tool and then fertilize your lawn every 3 months or so. When the grass in the lawn is thick and lush, the weeds can't get in and grow.
