  2. Data is still recoverable from a formatted drive; if you want to be certain your data is gone use Darik's Boot and Nuke (burn it to a cd then boot from the cd to wipe the drive - only use this method if you have restore cds or dvd to restore the operating system afterwards!)

    If you want to keep the operating system intact, clean the system with ccleaner (in settings select secure deletion) then shred any private files with File Shredder; also you can wipe the free space on the drive - securely overwrite previously deleted files beyond recovery

  3. Format the hard drive.

    Right Click on C: or whichever your hard drive icon is in my computer and select format.  

  4. You can buy 'shredding' software. McAfee do one. There must be others. Try PC World. Or you can take out the hard drive.

  5. Format the Hard drive.
