What is the best way to repair a popcorn ceiling?

i hate the popcorn and for the most part its not noticeable becuz the ceilings are so high. i had a leak and now a spot is buckling and cracking so i need to repair it...or cover it. i don't know which. any ideas?

Have a roofer fix the leak, and be happy you have a great excuse to replace the popcorn ceiling.

Is the sheet rock buckling or is the popcorn surface coat buckling??

If its the sheet rock buckling you will have to cut out the damaged sheetrock and put in a repair patch.

After the patch is done You can rent the sprayer for the new pop corn texture. Most places like Home Depot,Lowe's have these items on hand .

They will also instruct you on the proper way of application.

Before you do the pop corn,make sure you use a product called kills,it is a sealer so the drywall compound will not bleed through the finished product

The drywall is what buckled. You need to repair it and then retexture the area. Home Centers sell spray cans of this stuff.
