Looking for the least expensive way to research family tree... I bought the big expensive ancestry program years ago with all the discs, but never used it... Now I look on their website and see several names that I'd like to research.

  1. You could  search ancestry.com using your local library, I think most libraries have this service.

  2. Start by asking question of all of your living relatives before it's too late!! Write down everything they tell you!! You never know where the next clue will come from. Be aware that info on the Internet is not necessarily correct because so many people copy without verifying the info. Even public records are not always correct. In the Social Security Death Index my father's place of residence at the time of his death is incorrect. It is a hobby that my wife an I have shared for over 40 years. Good luck and have fun doing research.

TG is not correct. I have used their Family History Centers many times and have found the volunteers helpful and they have never "pushed" their relgion at me

  3. You can have the Morman Church help you, it's free, but there is a catch they will want to try and convert you to their church.
