  1. There have ALWAYS been gangs and there will always be gangs.  That is because there is POWER IN NUMBERS, plain and simple.  And the less empowered some disenchanged youth in any innercity block you want to visit feels, the more appeal joining up gets to be.  There has to be a viable BETTER choice available, if you expect people to MAKE better choices.

Deportation is a revolving door, people come back, the same way they came in the first place.

Jail costs more than a college education.

AND who said gang activity stops behind bars?  Jails and Prisons and Juvenile Detention are school days for gang members, they find lots of new members every time they get sent up.  It is solving nothing, in MOST cases to put gang members behind bars.  You'd have to send them all to a DIFFERENT facility and surround them with nicer criminals who were picked up for stuff like jaywalking, or shoplifting at a grocery store, embezzlement and so forth.

EDUCATION is only a good option if there is a JOB to go along with your student loan.

Gangs have become a very major problem, and a very, very complex one.  You have wannabe suburban kids who in their great effort to emulate a real thug, commit crimes needlessly, just to impress the ignorant other wannabes they hang out with.  Then you have gang kids who are born right into the life. And others who feel like their survival hinges on joining the ranks of the biggest meanest organization in their midst.

Its a problem.  The glorification of gang life has become an easy way to sell music, artists, etc... and that factors in to the appeal as well.  Kids who grew up never knowing a gangsta aspire for that image and art imitates life and then life imitates art.    I think it is important to have programs for gang involved youths that are aimed at getting them redirected-- but these days it makes little sense to have a jobs program, when we all KNOW the jobs aren't out there for presentable college grads, much less out there for tattoed hardasses.

  2. 4. Eradication is the best way to get rid of gangs.

  3. Eradication.

Jail costs too much to keep them alive.

Education-takes to long.  They have no interest in learning.

Deportation-many will go, many will return, They are still around

Eradication-It's bad.  Since this could never happen I don't feel bad about saying it.  Kill them all!

  4. Trace the faults.

    Then find a solution.

    Like having the I-Robots with A. I.

Recall back to the workshop for maintenance and servicing.

Trace where are the loose screws that cause the sparking.

    With the short-circuit.

    Why not get "Wall-E"

    To help out?

    Luke 8.5-8,10-17

    What do you think?

  5. I really don't know, and I am a survivor of a gang beating 3 years ago. The police refused to follow up on it and I got stuck with a big hospital bill. There was plenty of evidence to pursue it.

Law enforcement is sometimes corrupt and paid off, and other times they know they put their lives at risk to pursue the gangs. I have done my research. A complicated problem! No simple answer.

  6. Education is the only way to do it, but the government only likes to talk and make up catch phrases

    "Just Say No"

    "No Child Left Behind"

    "The War on Drugs"

It's all bull - there's no real effort of monetary support behind any of it

  7. Education and both parents in the home being the parent not their friends.

  8. oye chico!

send all those marielitos  and communists back to Cuba.

    that's it

  9. If Robber Gangs Alt currency made by computer graphics to supply currency to ATMS on street corners and system where citizens control money. Next a suggestion is to organige gladiator matches between gangs, Murderers, and Vigilantes. Live T.V.  Shows like Running Man.

Hunting Parties with liscences comprised of Special Forces and other Elite Troops matched against White Supremacists in addition to gang members in arenas or secluded cordoned off areas of forest in America. Abolish prisons and set up entertainment based on death  .

  10. Education, education, education, and more control over who immigrates into this country...

  11. Put a bounty on the head of every idiotwho looks, acts, dresses like or is a gang banger because education simply doesn't work on most of these career criminals.

  12. Option 4 is currently the only economical and rational measure. We screwed our society over when we removed corporal punishment from the education system. When the board of education was applied to the seat of attention then knowledge was imparted. Knowledge that you had better not act in certain manners because the consequences were not desirable. We need to reinstate mandatory corporal punishment into the Judaical and Educational system. It works and does not cost an arm and a leg.

Unfortunately for the gang members they have lost to the learning curve and should be eliminated for the good of society.

  13. Education, but not the way you are probably thinking.

We should provide them with skills.  But one of the major reasons they are where they are is because they have rejected the American culture.

They would work hard to get something, but they don't believe it would help them.  Why not?

Well, its because they continue to feel that the white race is holding them down, and would never let them get anywhere.  But again, we arrive at the question, why?

Well, its because white people have essentially rejected them.  They see this society as white-controlled (a rather accurate depiction still), and that white people don't accept them.

Let me ask you, what is the extent of your black education?  Because mine consisted of four times total (one time for every year in high school) of watching the movie Glory and then reading a portion of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech.  That is the totality of my black education.

And the same is true of them.  So when they look at the culture of America, they see a culture made for white people by white people.  They have no pride in it, they had nothing to do with it.  At least, that is what it looks like to them.

Black people have had huge impacts on our culture as a whole; in terms of food, music, literature, art, science, etc., they have done much for American culture.  But no one ever hears of any of these achievements.

Because they feel they have no hand in the culture of America, they reject it.  And they go and find their own culture.  And they have found an amazing culture for those who ever bother to look at any of it.

The food, rap, R&B, blues, Tupac Shakur and Bo Diddley, Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X, Colin Powell and even Wayne Brady, they have done much.

But then when the time comes, white people come to them and say, "we gave you equality, we accepted that you could be just like us and excel in our culture.  So why do you continue to cling to your own lesser culture."  We, nor they, are shown how rap or blues has affected the music, how MLK and Malcolm X have affected the teachings and beliefs, etc.  Everything is somehow lesser than white contributions.

And since they have no pride in what they are forced to be a part of, rather than shown why they are needed; they completely reject what has rejected them.

When we show that we as a culture value their contributions, and that we want more from them; they will begin to find a pride in themselves.  And when they have pride in themselves and in their contributions to culture as a whole; they will leave the bad of their culture and bring the good of their culture to add to ours.

One of the worst ideas that has ever been propagated by our society is that we must get rid of other cultures; in the idea that if we let people see themselves as part of another culture they will feel no loyalty to our own.  And that is not what America is about.

The idea and founding belief of our culture is that it takes people of all races, beliefs, values, etc. and takes the best of what they have to offer; and then blends it to make a single American culture that is strongest because it is a blending of the strongest parts of other cultures.  It is the intertwining of separate good threads to make the single greatest rope that can not be broken.

Black culture can be the first one accepted, the first of many that will fully strengthen us to be the greatest.

    Add-on:

And I do realize that much of your question was focused more on Hispanic gangs.

But they simply are not as big a problem as many try to make them out to be.  Black gangs are, at least for now.

Hispanic gangs can reach and are headed to that point, but they don't have to be.  The same that I said of black culture can be applied to Hispanic culture as well.

The overall problem that arises in any gang is a lack of pride in one's own race as well as in America as a whole.  To increase that pride, we must show them mentors and heroes they can relate to; those that have changed and affected American culture despite their holdbacks.

We must bump up MLK and Malcolm X, but we must also do the same for Cesar Chavez.  It goes on and on down the line.  So many from different races have done so well here, we must show these as the heroes that they are.  In so doing, we can inspire the aimless to aim for the top.

And they will aim for the top when they see that it can be reached, they need only work for it.  But we must show that we value them, and will help them reach the top; not hold them down because they are lesser in some way.

  14. Education and Eradication are the best options at our disposal but nothing can completely rid the world of gangs. By getting rid of the causes of gangs - lack of positive role models, stable support system, and opportunities, they would be less abundant. You also have to get rid of the already formed gangs to prevent them from going underground.

Deportation and jail only leads to larger, better organized gangs in "unstable" environments where they gain dominance. Deportation led to situations like MS-13, and the last thing the world needs is for gangs to take over any government of any country. The Taliban and Hamas are gangs, albeit very well organized and armed groups, that have done exactly that.

The truth is that the world will never be completely purged of gangs, whether they be the Black Panthers, the KKK, or the MS-13. The fact is that people will find other people with similar ideologies and further their agenda by any means. The more oppressed and frustrated any group of people feel, the more gangs will arise.
