What is the best way to sand a hardwood floor?

I have a wood floor in my kitchen and would like to refinish it. It needs to be sanded and a new protective coat put on.

I've sanded many hard wood floors .If you have a lot of patience you could rent a floor sander from a tool rental store actually there is two sanders required to to the job , a drum sander and a disk sander. however I would leave this job for a pro. also a stain and seal product should be used before a urethane finish is applied .All must be done with finesse.

buy one of those black and decker hard wood sanding machines

from your local DIY store

some are very cheap and good.

sand the floor and use polish on it afterwards for a nice glossy perfect finish...good luck
